On January 12, 2010, Haiti was hit with a devasting 7.0 earthquake leaving thousands dead or missing. Fortunately all of Haiti has not been completely destroyed; however the people there are in dire need of our help. Foot and water are the big necessities. I found an article discussing the American aid effort. According to the article more aid is coming into the country and getting to the people who really need it. Sloly but surely ditribution will become more organized over time. Hopefully soon Haitians will be able to return to their homes as rebuilding is also underway. The article notes that the U.N plans to pay people $3 a day to collect rubble and remove it from the streets. This amount is not alot at all but for Haitians who were making $1 a day prior to the earthquake it is a wonderful opportunity. I am really hoping and praying for Haiti. As a Haitian myself, I would love to see the country restored back the the beautiful land it once was.
